An Explanation

Ok, so I've had this song stuck in my head today - yes, the one that's playing right now. It made me think of a special that VH1 ran awhile ago called "50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever". These two songs on my honorary playlist kind of sum up what I would consider the worst songs of all time.

A New Era

Adam took the day off on Friday because he wasn't feeling well, which was nice! He really needed it because he had a final project due this weekend for one of his classes. We took a little time on Friday to catch up on The Office. For some reason, our dvr didn't catch the first episode, so we had to watch that on nbc.com.

Ok, almost as soon as Adam and I started dating, our nickname of choice for one another has been "Babe". After watching the dinner party episode, I just couldn't bring myself to call Adam this endearment anymore! I laugh every single time it comes out of my mouth. All I can think of is Jan playing "That One Night" and Michael talking about his uber 21" plasma screen tv (it folds back when there's company!).

So, now I have to come up with a new nickname for Adam. He doesn't seem to have a problem with "Babe" - although, I swear I can see a hint of a smile on his face whenever he uses it.

So, remember how I was saying how great our walk was? Yeah.

Yesterday I decided to try my off-leash experiment again, and Sam ran away. It took me over an hour to find him. So, that's the end of that.

More Adventures in Walking

Some things have happened in my dog-walking world since I last wrote about how much I hated it. Truth is, I loved it for a short period of time. Then I started thinking about what Cesar Milan would say about my walking technique and I found that I started trying to force my dogs to behave - and it was making all of us miserable!

I stopped walking them for awhile because I just became so frustrated with their behavior! I was also frustrated with the fact that Sam, my lab, just wasn't tired after our walks. He seemed like he could go on for another 3 hours, if I let him! All that to say, I knew that I needed a different strategy.

I know that I told most of you that I was thinking of training for the half-marathon in January, and somehow, in conversation, it came out that Amanda (Adam's sister, and our weekly American Idol/Wii buddy) was also interested in running it! We were both happy to learn this, since we're both in similar physical condition and we wanted a partner to train with. We were supposed to start this morning, but, while both of us overslept our alarms, she unfortunately had no one there to nudge her and tell her to turn the darn thing off!

Since she couldn't run with me, I decided that Sam would be my running partner today. So we set off at about 11:45 and did our run/walk. I say "run/walk" because I literally can't run for more than 5 seconds without wanting to throw up!

He was an amazing partner. After getting to the park area, I let him off his leash (first time ever!!) and he stayed with me the whole time! He ran ahead a few times, but always came back for me. I had a total blast! I think he probably had a great time too. We came back for round 2 with Kona and took a nice, leisurely walk where they both got to run a bit without their leashes. I only had one or two moments when I thought they'd run away, so I was pretty happy!

The funniest moment of the whole thing was when we were walking beside a lake and taking it easy. All of a sudden, Sam jumped in and started swimming around!! I was laughing so hard! I had no idea how he was planning on getting out, since the ledges came up pretty high, but he managed to jump out to safety - much happier, and cooler!

All in all, today was a great day for walking my dogs!

Wii Are Having Fun!

So, I know I'm always mentioning Wii... Have I mentioned just how much Adam and I love it?? We're hopelessly addicted. I'm a pro-bowler and Adam kicks my butt in tennis every single stinking time!!

Being the "fun junkies" that we are, we like to have a mini "American Idol" party with Adam's sister every Tuesday night. We have dinner, hang out, and disagree on the contestants (mostly Amanda and Adam against me!!). Anyways, we introduced Amanda to the Wii last night. She created her very own Mii (totally cute!) and beat Adam and I at bowling. That was a little hard for my competitive nature to take, especially because after she left Adam wanted to play tennis. I groaned and he said "Oh don't worry, it'll all be over before you know it!" What a punk! I couldn't back down after that slam! So we played best out of 5 and he killed me by winning 3 straight games in a row.

That's ok. :) I beat him in guitar hero! Some pics of our crazy party!!

There's No Place Like Home

I flew in today and just got home a little bit ago. I just realized that I forgot to take any pictures while I was there, so there's nothing to show for my trip except for new clothes, shoes and some bobby pins from Target.

I had a really great time with my parents. I was able to kick back, relax and enjoy the mild weather, fun dogs, and the comfort of their home. We had great food and played Wii like crazy!

I am so glad to be home though. I missed Adam and the dogs a lot, so it'll be nice to be here, in charge of my household again. I'll have to lay off the shopping for a bit though. :)

Power Shopping

Growing up, my parents didn't always have a lot of "discretionary" funds, so garage sales were our favorite places to frequent, as well as the outlet malls. We didn't go shopping very much in general - also, I grew up away from family most of my life. That being said, I think you can understand that my passion for shopping, while the flame burns bright, is a short, intensely burning flame. When I want to shop, I really, really want to go, but after shopping for about an hour, my flame goes out and I'm ready for ice cream!

In January, I was formally introduced to "power shopping" by Ashley G. I went to L.A. with her, her mom and sister, and a bunch of other ladies from EVBC. It was a lot of fun, but I have to say that it stretched me beyond my normal limits. A FULL day of shopping - three days in a row!!! It was a lot - very enjoyable - but a lot!

My mom and I went power-shopping when she came to visit in February, and I walked away with 3 pairs of shoes for $50! I was pretty happy! We continued the tradition by going yesterday. We were out from 10am - 5:30pm. My mom's favorite store is Dillard's (which is much, much better here in Dallas than in Phoenix - think Nordstrom's), so we spent a lot of time puruising the racks, as well as the Loft for my mom, a few stores for me and DSW. My favorite find of the day is a pair of shoes that perfectly match a dress that I just bought. I'm so excited to wear them!

I think Adam would be really proud of me! I spent under $100 and definitely got my exercise in for the day.

After dinner, my mom, dad, and I went back to their house for some more Wii fun. We practiced on Guitar Hero for awhile, and then we bowled, played tennis and did a bit of training. All in all, it was a great day!

The Lone Star State!

I write from Dallas, Texas from my parents' home. I'm here for a long weekend to hang out and do some relaxing, dog-walking, movie watching, eating and computer/wii game playing. Adam is spending the weekend at home by himself, spending much needed "man" time, doing whatever it is that he does. I think he plans on changing the breaks in my car, mowing the lawn and making himself a steak and mashed potatoes dinner (he always does that whenever I go out of town).

I get to play with my parents' FOUR dogs - Dallas, Texas, Bear, and Reagan (You'll never guess their political affiliation... very subtle). Bear and Reagan are new additions to the family and are as cute as cute can be. They're brother and sister and are lab mix puppies and are, I believe, the result of too much Animal Planet watching. :)

I also got my dad to make a blog of his very own!! I also hope to hook my parents on Guitar Hero... although, that's turning out to be an intersting task. I'll keep you "posted" on my progress!!
